At first I was going to buy the PN50B550, but I found an internet coupon for $125 off this TV, so I figured what the heck and bought this instead. I went with plasma because I have a rather bright TV room during the day, the price was cheaper, and I wanted to be able to see the picture from side angles as well as straight on. This Samsung PN50B650 TV is absolutely beautiful and I must confess it is my first HD TV as I have been a CRT guy until now(I know–what took me so long?). As did many others, I researched TV’s everywhere on the internet and Consumer Reports to help make my decision and I am very happy with what I bought. Others have said how much heat plasma TV’s put out and the newer models are better. This does put out some heat, but I just turn on the ceiling fan and it takes care of it. I also have a home theater system when I want the big sound, but the regular speakers are just fine for me when watching everyday programming. Football games are awesome in HD with the big sound system on. All in all this is a great TV and it gets two thumbs up from me.
